Our GP surgeries are operating a ‘telephone first’ triage service for problems that you may feel need dealt with on the day. We may then offer ‘remote consultations’ via either the telephone or a video link if needed.
This can help by signposting to suitable local and online alternatives and avoids patients walking into surgeries without pre-booked appointments, then being disappointed if we don’t have any spare appointments. It also helps to minimise the risk to potentially vulnerable patients if you have Covid symptoms.
If you have a problem whilst away from home your first action should be to telephone your own surgery for help. Your own surgery has the advantage of being able to access your medical notes and often knows your personal health information already. In most cases your own practice should be able to solve your problem and if you need a prescriptions – this can sent electronically to a local pharmacy.
In the unlikely event that this is not the case we would ask you to phone our surgery on 015394 32693 (Ambleside) or 015394 36246 (Hawkshead). We will then make our own assessment of the best way to help you which might include redirecting you to a more appropriate service.
